What does "opening between posts" mean?
The inside distance from the inside edge of one gate post to the inside edge of the other, where the gate will sit. Measure around the middle of the gate height.
What is "clearance"?
The planned side gaps so the gate swings freely and hardware fits. On our gates it's ≈10 mm per side (about 3/8").
How do I measure correctly?

1. Measure the inside distance between posts at three heights: top, middle and near the ground.
2. Use the smallest measurement as your opening between posts.
3. Note sizes in both imperial (ft/in) and metric (cm).
4. Allow for ground clearance if the path slopes so the gate bottom won't scrape.

Rule of thumb: The supplied gate is ~2 cm narrower than the opening (≈10 mm clearance each side).
