The inside distance between your two gate posts, measured at hinge height.
What is a "gate panel (leaf)"?
The physical gate you receive – measured edge to edge. We size it slightly smaller than the opening to allow for hinges, latch and thermal expansion.
What is "clearance"?
A small gap (about ≈3/8 in / 10 mm each side) so the gate swings freely and hardware fits correctly.
