Steel Surface Mounts for PVC Fence Posts
Use a steel surface mount for PVC fence posts where a suitable post needs to be fixed to a hard standing area rather than set directly into the ground. These mounts are available for compatible 4x4 posts and 5x5 posts, making them useful for certain concrete, paving, patio or decking installations.
A surface mount should only be used where the base structure is suitable for the fence height, gate load, fixing type and expected use. If you are installing a gate, make sure the post, hinge side and latch side are properly supported before ordering.
Available options
- 4x4 Steel Surface Mount – for compatible 4x4 PVC fence posts.
- 5x5 Steel Surface Mount – for compatible 5x5 PVC fence posts.
Before ordering
Check the post size, installation surface and fixing requirements. For full fence runs, also confirm whether you need End Posts, Line Posts, Corner Posts, T-Posts or Blank Posts in the layout.

How The Calculator Works
This tool automatically calculates the optimal number of panels and posts for your specific layout based on our 6ft (1.83m) and 8ft (2.44m) panel systems.
Panel Calculation:
The calculator subtracts any gate opening widths from your total fence run, then divides by the panel width to determine the number of panels required. Partial panels are rounded up to a full panel, which may need to be cut to size on-site.
Post Calculation:
Based on your layout, the tool calculates the exact number of End, Line, and Corner posts needed. Blank posts for gate openings are also included if required.
Post Types Explained:
- End Posts: Mark the start and finish of any continuous section of your fence.
- Line Posts: Connect panels in a straight run, placed between your End and Corner posts.
- Corner Posts: Create a 90-degree turn in your fence line.
- Blank Posts: A stand-alone post when your gate is on either side of the fence run.
